Ralphie Post Baby!

Hi friends! You haven’t seen me in a while and for good reason. I became a big brother to a little baby girl on November 8, 2013! Having Hanna around has been a definite change to my life before baby. To explain, I will list the biggest changes for you. First off, my ranking in the house. I used to be first fiddle as they say, but now I’m second to this little cherub:

It’s pretty tough to compete with those dimples.

Second, my nighttime sleep. It is constantly interrupted! Before I could sleep soundly for 8 hours in a row, now maybe three hours straight followed by crying and then four more followed by crying. Once though, when she awoke we found her like this:

Thirdly, I don’t get bathed as much, or at all! Since Hanna’s arrival my look is closer to a mini-sheepdog than a schnauzer-poodle mix. See me on my bed in the first photo above, it’s embarrassing. I need a bath & haircut, now!

There are good things, however, too. Hanna is full of laughter, happiness and well, poop. (And I thought I had to go a lot!) Mom and Dad have this special container called a “Diaper Genie” that stores the smelly things. Though, it’s not THAT special, I have one of those too, it’s called a garbage can and it’s outside.

So far, Hanna gives me my space, but occasionally I try to get a little close, once I even licked her cheek. Though usually, this is as close as I get to the drooly baby:

As you can see, I’m not amused and still need a haircut.

Ralphie has some big news to share with you!

A baby girl!

A baby will be joining our little family of three! Oh. My. Goodness.

So, what you are telling me is that we will welcome a new family member this November?

A BABY!! Let me think about this for a minute…

Well, as long as I still get treats and snuggles I will be the best big brother!

Okay, I’ve decided that I’m officially excited!

Have any of you out there endured a new arrival like this in your family? Is sharing your parents difficult? I’m sure my one on one time will change, but I am excited to meet this new person come November!!

Exciting times ahead for me!

Ralphie has a true love, carbohydrates. Chips, crackers, bread, marshmallows to name just a few. His favorite carb-packed food, however, is PANCAKES!

It’s true. Every time we make blueberry pancakes for breakfast, Ralphie hangs around our feet hoping a pancake would fall from the counter straight into his salivating mouth! Unfortunately for him, that will never happen.

Since we understand his love of carbs and we love him unconditionally, we always make a plain pancake for him to enjoy after we clean our plates.

I thought I’d share Ralphie’s happy moment in our kitchen with you!

Ralphie and I wish you a great day! ❤

Breakfast of Champions

Ralphie is getting bored with his normal breakfast routine and seeking alternatives.

Yum! That looks good, can I have some?

No, Ralphie! Cereal and milk isn’t for dogs!

Well, what about that? It smells really good! May I have some?

No, Ralphie. Orange juice isn’t for dogs.

Oh okay. Something smells good…I think it’s coffee. I love the smell AND taste of coffee! May I have some?

No Ralphie, coffee isn’t for dogs. Caffeine isn’t good for you!

Okay. What is that? I smell strawberry and banana! May I have some of that?

No Ralphie, smoothies aren’t for dogs. As much as I know you love strawberries and bananas, this smoothie is mine, so, no you can’t have any.

Fine… What can I have then? Your chicken salad looks good! May I have some of that?

No Ralphie, chicken salad isn’t for dogs. In any case, this isn’t a breakfast option.

Really? Hrumpf! Fine then. What CAN I have?

Ralphie, how about your own special breakfast that you eat everyday?

I accept! Thanks, after all this is my favorite option!

Now time for my favorite past-time, a nap! Zzzzzz.

Have a great day!
